Discovering Dole and its surroundings (a day or an afternoon)

Welcome to Dole, a charming town in the Jura region nestled on the banks of the Doubs River. Strolling through its cobbled streets, you'll be captivated by its historical heritage : the Notre-Dame Collegiate Church, the archways, the ancient facades, and the Hôtel-Dieu – all vestiges of Dole's status as a "City of Art and History." Don't miss the Chat Perché trail, a playful walk that invites you to look up at the rooftops, statues, and hidden passageways.

For culture enthusiasts, the Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology, housed in the former Officers' Pavilion, offers collections ranging from local archaeology to contemporary works. The birthplace of Louis Pasteur, now a museum, retraces the life of the great scientist in his childhood town. Finally, nearby, the Pasteur monumenton Cours Saint-Mauris pays tribute to his work and adds a touch of emotion to your stroll.

f you need some fresh air, Dole is full of idyllic parks and gardens : the Cours Saint-Mauris (a remnant of the old ramparts), the Jardin des Carmélites, the Jardin des Chevannes, or the Parc de la Sauline along the canals. These spaces are perfect for a nature break, a picnic, or some quiet reading.

For leisure activities, Dole offers a variety of options: hot air balloon rides, canoeing and kayaking on the Doubs River, bike rides, and even escape games. For families, theISIS Aquapark is a refreshing option: swimming pools, water slides, a playground… perfect for children.

And if your day makes you want to eat well, Dole does not disappoint with quality restaurants : starred restaurants like La Chaumière, or more accessible addresses like Le Grain de Sel or the IIDA-YA restaurant, awarded the bib Gourmand.

In summary, Dole is a welcoming city for heritage lovers, families seeking adventure, and travellers looking for peace and quiet or quality experiences, all within walking distance of your gîte or bed and breakfast.
